[2022] Northwest Arkansas Commercial HVAC Rebates & Tax Credits

Last updated: Jan. 21, 2022, 11:17 p.m.

Commercial HVAC gets rebates too, you know.

HVAC issues almost always catch people by surprise. And despite what HVAC salesmen may think, they are not the good kind of surprise, particularly when it's the middle of summer, you've got tenants with no AC blowing your phone up, and you're staring down a $10k replacement quote.

The good news is that commercial HVAC rebates and tax credits do exist and some of them are even quite substantial. To help you out, we've put together a big list of them below.

Note: Many of these rebates end when the available budget for it runs out. Always call your utility to verify a rebate is still active before doing anything (a heads up to us so we can update this page would be much appreciated as well).

SWEPCO Rebates

  • Energy Efficient HVAC System
    • Rebate amount: $0.14 per kWh saved
    • How to get it: Contact a SWEPCO energy advisor via this page and schedule an energy assessment. After consulting with your advisor and making changes (including HVAC installation), you will be paid an incentive amount based on verified kWh savings achieved by the project.
  • A/C Tune-up
    • Rebate amount: up to $800 (more for industrial sized units)
    • How to get it: Have an approved contractor perform the tune-up and submit the paperwork. You can find a list of approved contractors here.
    • Requirements:
      • Must be performed by an approved contractor
      • System must be more than a year old
      • Can't have had “CoolSaver” tune-up in last 5 years

Black Hills Energy Rebates

  • High Efficiency Natural Gas Furnace
    • Rebate amount: $500
    • How to get it: Have a contractor install the furnace. Then, submit this form along with an invoice showing proof of purchase.
    • Requirements:
      • Must be rated 95% or higher AFUE
      • Rebate offer applies only to new natural gas furnaces
      • If the furnace being replaced is electric or is a heat pump, no rebate is available
      • Must submit invoice within 90 days of installation
  • Tankless Water Heater
    • Rebate amount: $500
    • How to get it: Have a contractor install the water heater. Then, submit this form along with an invoice showing proof of purchase.
    • Requirements:
      • Must be rated .90 UEF or higher
      • Rebate offer applies only to new natural gas water heaters
      • If the water heater being replaced is electric, no rebate is available
      • Must submit invoice within 90 days of installation

Federal HVAC Tax Credits & Deductions

  • Energy-Efficiency Tax Deduction
    • Amount: Tax deduction of $1.80 per square foot
    • How to get it: Have a system installed that reduces HVAC energy usage by 50% or more in comparison to a building meeting minimum requirements set by ASHRAE Standard 90.1. Read more here.

American Standard / Lennox Manufacturer Rebates

Unfortunately there are no manufacturer rebates of any kind as of January 2022 due to extreme equipment shortages. This applies not only to American Standard / Trane and Lennox, but to all brands (to the best of our knowledge). Basically they are selling every unit they are making and don't need to stimulate demand by offering discounts or rebates.
